Dirty Air Pump Intake
I noticed black stuff on intake surface and cotton insert, to me dirt or dander is usually gray.
Is it OK to clean with peroxide? Has anyone suspended their air pump or laid vertically so it's not intaking dirt/mold from surface? Will this damage the air diaphragm? |

Could you post a picture of how you have it set up and of the black stuff?

I usually just gently wash my air pump intake filter with a bit of liquid dish-washing soap and water then rinse well with water. Blot it dry with a towel, then let air dry before reinstalling it.
The black/gray stuff is just dirt that accumulates in the filter from drawing room air. I think you will get it regardless of how the air pump is mounted. It is important to keep it clean as it will keep the dust and dirt out of the inside of your air pump which could lead to premature diaphragm failure.
