Downoi propagation
I was just wondering how big you let the side shoots get before you cut them off of the mother plant? Is there a size, do you wait to see a small root?

Generally their own roots.
But you can let them grow larger etc, does not matter much.

i dont really bother the side shoots.
on the rare occasion that i replant a patch (once a year max), i stick a downoi with a few roots in the substrate. it grows up, and grows a ring of side shoots from the bottom node or two above the substrate (the ones below just grow more roots). these sideshoots grow horizontally for me along the substrate, growing both roots and leaves at every node. then when these nodes develop sideshoots, they grow vertically creating a thick patch of downoi. whenever the downoi stems are over 4 inches tall, i cut them down to 2 nodes above the substrate. the cut tops almost always have a few small roots already, and are always over 4 nodes long (they go like wildfire when i put them up for sale).
