NY state rocks. Safe?
Hi
I got this rocks in upstate new york. They are from a friend's cabin area. Are they safe for my aquarium? (obviously I will boil and clean them) ![]() ![]()

They should be fine. Maybe soak them in bleach then boil.

a good thing would be advising why...
to clarify, some people have boiled and baked rocks and had them explode. air pockets in the stone, however, I have never had that issue. you can also use hot water and a brush and just scrub them good. As to the boiling, its been documented to happen Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk 2

if you boil them put the into cool water before you turn them on. You need to bring them up to temperature. A cold rock going into boiling water causes the issues.
