Only 1 side shoot.

Hello all. After trimming my plants, I have noticed that they are only growing one side shoot. What could cause this? Thanks in advance.

R. 'colorata'

Are ones I'm having trouble with. The fast growers. My R. 'macranda' and another which name is super long and I forgot it are a bit slower, and growing two sideshoots. HC doing fine too.

EI dosing, lots of co2, lots of light. No algae problems really.

Those plants you mentioned usually branch quite a bit. How long has it been since trimmed the plants? Has this happened before or have you had good branching in the past?

This is the first time I've noticed, but I'm guessing they were branching before because they've kindof formed bushes. (some, the ones in the center are but the ones on the edges haven't yet, but those were replanted, so the center ones have had more time to grow in)

depends, plants with alternating leaves might only shoot out one side while opposite leaves placement shoot out from both side.

As far as I know they come from the same node (opposite)
