Sump re-design

My current sump seems to have developed a small leak, so I am just going to build a new one. Let me know what you think. I am wondering if I should just remove baffle 3. Picture below is much bigger in area for return that I really have. My paint skills are not so good.

36 x 12 x 19
38 gallons

Left to Right

Baffle 1 - 14 inches + 2 inches off the bottom
Baffle 2 - 12 inches
Baffle 3 - 10 inches +2 inches off the bottom

Concern
The length where the return pump will only be 10 inches x 12 inches for water for the pump. Will that be enough?

Thanks

How big are your filter socks? Keep the drain area as small as possible as it should only be big enough to hold your filter socks. Make you Foam area teh same, I used 3" thick poret foam but 2" should be enough. Make the bio area as big as you need as teh water level in the bio and pump return will be the same so it will account for extra water volume.

I know mine is pretty much the same design and so far I haven't found a flaw with it and maintence is super easy.

Craig, yes I stole your design , looks like the perfect setup.

Looks like it very easy to for maintence

Filter socks are 4 inches
The foam I have now is 3 inches, but I could trim it down.
