Which canister is more quite?
I have a Fluval 205 and an Eheim 2217. I have found my Fluval is much quieter than my Eheim. I don't really like one more than the other though.

Didn't you just answer your question for yourself?

i really like fluvals they have never let me down and all mine are dead silent i just got a 2232 and gotta say i do like it even though i havent liked some of ehimes other models designs this one i like and is quite also, one thing i can say i like more than the fluvals is ehimes skimmer http://www.petsolutions.com/C/Aquari...ace%20Extracto keeps my crs tank looking really good and its self adjusting unlike fluvals. really all just little -/+ but it can make a diff to someone.

its options that im comparing, just like cost, gph, watt consumption, noise, etc.. should all be looked into so its all little -/+ for specific area's some might use them some might not thats why you have to see whats best for each individual person as we all are looking for different and specific things.
its still a fair compairson one has more options and self leveling and a bigger cost other option has less cost and requires more hands on to keep it performing correctly so it all comes down to what the buyer's main points of interest are. |

My Fluval G3 has been quieter than my previous Ecco canister and Eheim Pro 2's. But the Fluval G3 also cost more than both of those combined so better damn well be quieter (quieter not more quiet!)

Not something that a lot of us can judge fairly. Many times the placement and maintenance of filters will make them louder. I've got four 2217 Eheims and they all seem to be different in how much noise they make. Much of the time it is how the cabinet reacts to vibration. If I strap the tubing down too solid, the vibration can make the stand "drum" and really seem loud.

The word you apparently are looking for is "quiet".

On my 75 I am running an eheim 2234 and a fluval 405. If I open the cabinet and lean in a little I can hear the fluval over the eheim but they're both very quiet, and at night and can only hear a slight hum from them but only when everything else is off or asleep (TV, fridge, nephew, etc.)
