has anyone kept nannostomus mortenthaleri before (red/purple coral pencilfish)

hey everyone,

so i was looking into a tetra substitute for an amazon themed tank and i stumbled on pencilfish. i like how they are schooling fish, small and are not tetras i intended on getting a school of golden pencilfish (nannostomus beckfordi) as i read they were great community fish. my fish store doesnt have those and they dont order those but they do have what they called red arc pencilfish which i looked up to be nannostomus mortenthaleri. i have heard a lot about them. anyone who has kept them know if they are good for a community tank? i have a 40 gallon tank with a few GBRs and some honeycomb catfish (centromochlus perugiae) so far. really would like more info on keeping them
thanks!

They are great fish and I have kept many species but all of them seem to dither about on their own, very peaceful and what I call the Hummingbird of fish, their nose is always tilted toward the water surface and their little fins moving really fast to keep them in position as they graze on the plants just cleaning away, get some you'll love them.

They are not picky about water parameters, etc. and very easy to keep.

i first saw them in person in a different store near me and i thought they were quite interesting. it was 20 dollars a fish so i was thinking that they would be hard to care for. some sources have said that they will not do well in certain water conditions (basic or hard water) but others have said they will do fine. its good to hear an opinion that they are easy to take care of ill look into ordering them next time around
