Scape ideas and Planting advice
So I have decided to totally break down my older tank, which was plagued by black beard algae. I have been messing around with some hard scape ideas and wanted some input on what one you guys favor.
Also, I wanted to keep the plant life at a medium care level (though, I am experienced with CO2 dosing). I was thinking possibly doing some moss cover? What are some planting ideas that you guys would recommend. Sorry if the the surrounding is distracting, but try to image it against a black background. These pics were taken in my yard, since my tank is currently being revamped. The orange tape being my tank's footprint. ![]()

I like the second one. Imagine the hard scape is elevated with the substrate sloping away from it on the sides facing us. some grass starting at the base of the wood and rocks and fading away into the dark substrate as it nears the glass.

I was thinking some type of grass as well, most likely hair grass. Though, I have a tank with a HG carpet and would like to use some other interesting nano pants, maybe like Crypt Parva? What else are some good plants that don't require intensive attention that are good for a nano plant?
What is the plant being used in this video at 6:38? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZDexLMZFrU Looks pretty small and neat? But never heard of it Storigine Rappins(sp?) What are its requirements? And where can i find info on it? |

I feel like the second scape works better for plants, giving you space to make a nice carpet and add whatever else you are looking to add
while I like the first one, I would really only add moss to it, if even that, and would probably make it a backwater kind of thing with cardinal tetras, and while that could look cool there wouldn't be any plant life, which I think kinda defeats the purpose of this for you right? lol |

I like pic 2 as well, it looks more natural.
The whole idea about an aquascape is to make the thing look as natural as possible, the way you would find something in it's natural state. No 2 looks more more like that. My 2 cents |

They are both nice, depends on the height and shape of the tank really.
