Plant Gravel @ Petsmart

I was just at my local petsmart in harrisburg and saw that they had their Flora-something plant gravel on clearance for 10-11 bucks (original 20). There were 2 bags left at my store.

USUALLY each store has the same clearance items (atleast around here ive noticed). So not a guarentee it will be there for you.

Just thought i share the good news for those looking for cheap substrate.

If you're talking about the roughly 10 pound bags that I saw today for $10 on clearance, I don't even think it's a good deal. I'm not a huge fan of "plant substrate" anymore as it is though. Just seems like a huge waste of money in the end because they don't actually provide the plants with the nutrients they need.

^ agreed, because i dose ferts no matter what substrate im using. But ill buy a 10 dollar bag of plant substrate over a bag of rainbow rocks. I have yet to try MTS so if i master that ill go MTS over substrate ^^.

Also if im correct plant substrate is better material for beneficial bacterial growth due to the porous grains...compared to the waxed/polished stones.

Regardless a good deal for natural looking substrate.

correct, which is why i run floramax and dirt in this tank. it was in my 55 before this one. grows plants nice
