False waterfall?

Let me try to explain what I want to do. I have a 40 breeder. I plan to have part of the back filled with Riparium plants. This tank has a pair of macrostomas, and then a lone male of a differing origin. The lone male is right now housed in something I built with craft canvas. The fish in this is a very personable guy. What I want to do is build a higher section for him. I would like to be able to see him in here. I want to have some of the planters around part of it. I want it to be kinda like a waterfall, but will of course hold him in here without him going through the bottom. I figured you guys could help me design something that I can move about in the tank, for scape changes.

So I am trying to visulize. Could you just pump the water into another tank above you current one and have that one overflow into the lower tank.

In theory yes. However I have to have it covered since the fish are very strong accurate jumpers.

Hi Marjerah, my tactic is to create a kind of "Wardian case" topper of a light weight plexiglass. As you know from another site I am creating a 75 gallon plaudarium now, and I am going through the same growing pains. You know, you think then figure it will or wont work, etc. Since I am incorporating orchids, and want to fill about 50 gallons of water I have dumped the waterfall concept and gone with "tree roots" as in a swamp with the tangled roots. This will give me lots of trickle areas. I also am going with a underwater pond pump inside a bucket or case which I will incorporate into the roots which will be my filter. (I will make the rock of fiberglass). One really great filter concept was to build a wall separator which would shrink your tank some, and use that as the filter. Built into the tank. That is also an option, and it could have a sponge draw.

By the way, looking for plants local to macrostoma, I found an orchid that grows in Baruni, Oberonia rosea. It is probably as indangered in its native habitat as our friend the macrostoma.

While balancing on a piece of wood, two inches by four inches known as a 2x4, John and his friend Sally both spotted a dalmatian inside of a truck with sirens. The animal with John and Sally is a _ _ _?
