Hygrophila planting advice & ID needed

Got these a few weeks ago. In looking at the plant profiles, I think it's hygrophila polysperma. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I love the jungle-y look of these plants and my snails love climbing on them, but I'm having a hard time keeping the stems in the gravel. They keep slipping back out, and when I try to put one back, I end up uprooting 2 more. So frustrating. Was it wrong to spread them out like this? Is there a technique to getting them to stay put while they establish good roots? I'm also wondering if my gravel isn't the best substrate, but I can't change it out right now. Thanks for any advice!

It looks like it is probably Hygrophila sp 'Tiger'.

How deep is your gravel? If it is less than 2" deep, then that is probably the reason it is not staying planted or you just have fish who are may be knocking it loose.

Thanks for the ID. I could probably add more gravel. I wish I'd gotten a substrate more suited for plants. Is it okay that the stems are spread out, or should they be planted in bunches?
