When I transport shrimp back and forth in a vehicle (between Louisville, KY and Flagstaff, AZ), I do so in styrofoam coolers ($5 at Kroger) and I use battery operated air pumps ($15 for a 3-pack, usually) attached to established sponge filters. Seems to work well for me over the course of a week.

I've done it with everything from Neos to BKK without a hitch.

Is it possible you could move a tank or two with you and set them up immediately to put your critters in?

If possible, set up at least one tank at the new place ahead of time. Also you may want to get the new place's tap parameter in case there's a big difference enough for you to re-consider aging water strategy.

We thought about moving to a bigger place but I shake my head looking at 13 tanks we have....

with livestock, i typically carry them in hard containers. had done this in the past with my fancy goldfish. it should be much easier with shrimp. actually used a large glass pyrex measuring cup to "net" / capture them.

to keep things simple, get the largest lidded tupperwear that you can manage (factoring the weight of the water), collect gravel/mosses/water from the tank and lastly add purigen in the transport box.

Collect the gravel but maintain moistness so you can drop it back into the tank at your new location. This can be managed by simply putting the gravel in a few 3-4 mil garbage bags. Multiple bags will cut down on the weight per bag. higher mil bags will also prevent penetration. Place all filter media in a smaller bag with some tank water in it and you are ready to go... yea sounds simplier than it is.

If you're moving in town it easiest to keep everyone where they are. When we moved last March, I drained my tanks as much as I could while giving the fish enough room, paid a buddy a case of beer and had him and my husband move them for me (moving a 75g is NOT easy!). Everyone but one cory made it just fine. The poor little guy had a rock fall on him.

Would it be better if I sent a pack of 10-12 peewees after your move with an adult male or two then?

Yikes. :O Well, don't sweat it! Short of a meteor falling on my apartment, I'll likely have a pack of peewees saved for you. Granted, if the meteor does hit, the neos will probably be fine and I'll be on fire.
