Dull color guppies

Hi
I have a 6ft guppies only breeding tank. Im doing the standard method: lots of swimming space, lots of surface hiding plants, quality food and no multi tanks or selective pairings. So far so good, seeing lots of frys.

Im corncen, that the community (without selective breeding) will produce duller and duller colours down the generation. Poor genetics. Is this a problem breeders face?
LFS told me this, jut wanting some thoughts

yes...if you don't keep an eye on the development, you'll just end up with guppies that are only feeder quality

The girl guppies will choose traits that they like which isn't necessarily what you like.
