Melanotaenia parva rainbows on offer...
Hey folks
I have a group of 10 young parva rainbows I'd like to sell off. I know i know, everyone is going to chime in and say why didn't you stop off at the auction, but I'm studying for the second stage of my medical boards right now and in over my head in studying that has to be done. Parva are a more medium sized bow, probably a bit smaller than the Kamaka. Really best kept in groups 5+. These fish were raised by me, and are showing their adult colors now, esp. in the am. $6 each if anyone is interested. you can follow the link below to see what they look like, they are all from this genetic blood line. http://www.rainbow-fish.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=380 I also have a group of melanotaenia splendida australis, but these are bit of a larger fish and won't be so easy on delicate plants. $5 each http://www.rainbow-fish.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=400 |

I might have to take you up on an offer for a male and female parva, they are on my short list of rainbows to keep. I don't have enough stock room for more than a couple, but my tank does house several Melanotaenia species so they should not feel out of place in my tank.

Someone should jump on these, great price and a rare rainbow, you will not find these in your lfs, and if for some reason you did they would be priced easily at 20.00+

I had to decline just a pair. I would LOVE to keep this specie, but I lack the stocking room, and for the Parva, a group will ensure you a very good color showing. These guys are a bit temperamental for color, When they are happy and have others (especially females) they get a very bright coloration, throughout the day they tend to loose color until they are very drab right at lights off, kind of like charging a battery at night, and letting it drain through the day. Very unique fish! one of these days... one of these days.

Sorry, yes, local pick up only. You're also better off with a group of these fish. A pair would be a bit drab, and given this is such a rare species - its actually an ICUN red listed species, its better to keep a group to promote the color, and have a better chance of breeding if that is what someone wanted to do down the line. I've found keeping tiny groups/pairs of any bows is never a good thing, one of the pair usually dies or jumps or something and then you're left with a single male or female that you're never going to find a replacement for in a hurry, if at all - esp. if you are wanting genetically pure lines.
