Ph question!! This is my first post on the forum and i need help!
Ive had my 29gal planted auarium up and running for about 3 weeks now. Ive done one water change after the first week and ive now tested the water and my ph is about 8.0. Im assuming this is high? What might cause it to get that high? What is the most effective way of lowering it? Btw i have 3 cory catfish and about 5 shrimp.

First, I would look up the specific species of cory you have, as well as plants, and see if they are sensitive to an 8 PH. Most aquatic animals will happily adjust to certain PH levels as long as they are consistent. If you are worried about the PH, though, you can add some peat moss to soften the water, and in turn lowering the PH. However, if your plants and fish are thriving under current conditions, I would leave them be. Since, most likely the change in the water chemistry would affect them more than the slightly higher PH would.
