HC is growing slow but steady.

Berried Blue Pearl

I preordered OEBTs from Alpha Pro Breeders so they should come after June 25th.

You can't really see the difference in HC growth unless you compare it to past pictures.

I heard and ime mopani tends to rot, if u pull it out you will smell the stench. I would go Malaysian, cholla, or manzanita

a neo species that would be nice could be fire reds or red rili or orange Sakura. I think the red or orange would blend with the blue nicely. You could also try caridina babaulti as a third species for a green color but u might lose it in the plants.

Malawas are another possibility but it's kinda plain in my opinion

The chain swords will go rampant. I had it run wild in my tank with just sand

I can't do another neo since I already have a berried blue pearl which is going to release her eggs any time now. I thought about babaultis but my dumb FSS holds my pH at 6.4. It's gonna stay like that for a while now. :/ Also I heard the exact opposite about the wood; I read that it doesn't rot. If it does then I think I'll try manzy.

I've had 4 pcs of mopani before I switched, idk if it was rot but the smell was putrid. One smelled bad but didn't visibly affect my shrimp. Another started growing this hair, apparently some kind of bacteria feeding on fungus or fungus feeding on the bacteria which was feeding on the sap. Either way it was nasty lol. Eventually malaysian was the better choice for me but if it dont look nasty then I guess why change it.

You could get another neo and just scoop out the pearl babies, or if the pearl mama drops the eggs, which is quite common on the first batches, then you can get another type.

However some that won't interbreed but will breed in freshwater:
1) Babaulti- I have em at ph 6.5 with no issues, probably not as a prolific breeder as a high pH, but I didn't seem to have much luck with tons of babies in either.
2) Malawas
3) Malayas- a larvae stage breeder that reproduces in freshwater, though I havne't seen any for sale anywhere
4) Blue Bee- It's a paracaridina, however I think the blues are a bit repetitive with OEBT

I don't have a tank for the blue pearls :/ and that fungus thing on the mopani wood Sufis. Ive had it for like 2 months now. Babaultis sound pretty good.

I found the golden ratios of my tap to distilled water for shrimping. 1:3 for a pH of 6.8-7.0, and 1:4 for 6.6-6.8, So the 1:4 ratio if using quarts, will give me a gallon of water.

After coming back from a 4 day convention I was shocked to return to a cloudy tank with dead blue pearls. One of them was berried too. What a bummer. On the bright side, I cleared most of the cloudiness with 50% and 80% water changes. Also, my OEBTs from APB arrived! 10 Juvie shrimps, no DOAs, are now in the tank. I can't post any pics right now because my HC carpet turned into crap over those 4 days and the water is still cloudy. I'm feeding the OEBTs Borneo Wild Color.

Good Morning!

And my once lush, HC carpet, now reduced to this:

Well, back to petco!
