OK, I was getting curious since the first page.

If you still don't have much experience. I'll still suggest going back to the inhabitants of your original post.
I've never kept rams myself. But most of what I've read, and even still in this thread. They take some good care, mainly in the "keeping a stable environment" area.

As for your original post...
I'd go with somewhere around 6-8 cories. All of the same type.
And however many guppy's(?). I kept 4 one time in a heavily planted 30g and they seemed to fight constantly. (my only experience with them).
The oto's..
Could keep anywhere from 3-6. And plan on feeding them. Because 3 will have the place cleaned up with in the first month. And a nicely balanced planted tank won't have much for them to eat.
The problem with this. Is that the cory's will do a disappearing act with the algae waffer's, before the oto's know anything was any there.

I really appreciate your help!!! I feel confident about being able to keep a ram because i have kept a thriving saltwater tank (which is harder) and its been a few years since i have kept freshwater. You seem like a really smart person, could you tell me if this stock is ok stocking. Right now i am planning
1 ram
9 cardinal tetras
3 ottos
4 cpd's
1 guppy
1 dwarf groumis
thanks again!!!!!!

again fish personalities can differ but I once had a dwarf gourami and it was mean to everything except harlequin rasboras.

The water parameters that the guppy will prefer is different than what the other fish will prefer, but you could try it as an experiment. If it fails guppies arent expensive. I don't know enough about CPDs to know if they are compatible.

In my 29 I started with
2 bolivian rams
10 tetras
3 cories
and 3 ottos

after a few random deaths, I got a pair of angelfish. Which worked out great for a while until the angelfish started spawning every couple weeks. The angelfish and remaining ram constantly were at odds. At first the ram was winning, but once the angelfish got a bit bigger they finally weakened the ram to the point of death.

So now in my 29 I have
10 tetras
2 cories
1 otto
2 angelfish

If I were to stock it again I would do,

A pair of bolivian rams
3-5 cories
15 cardinal tetras or 10 rummy nose tetras

zacheyp, thanks for the vote of confidence. But I know me, and not gonna climb up on the pedestal. ; )

Besides the fact that I haven't had any personal experience with half the fish in your last list. I don't see any major "problem" with trying it.
I'm just not a good candidate(to give a thumbs up) for this type of atmosphere anymore. I've lost my "fan of the community tank" membership.
My last recommendation of 3 different fish, is about as far as I care to go anymore.

Just from my reading and experience over the past 20 something years. I'll just agree with alot of what kamikazi has mentioned.

The more I keep doing Less... the more I See the meaning of "Less Is More".

Disclaimer: I have had a 75g with 70 something fish in it. And was probably around 30 different types of fish. So yea... been there, done that. ; )

Most people like odd numbered schools, so based on your list I would do a school of nine like you originally said or get a couple more and do 11.
