what was the name of the nursery?


so i ended up doing that Tropical workshop at Naturesway with Yamil Collazo. He is such an awesome guy! He came up from Puerto Rico just to visit and do workshops/demos for Jim's open house.

The workshop was a tropical workshop, thats all the info we were given. so when I get there, I had no idea what kind of stock we would be getting. turns out it was a mix of things. there were 7 people in the workshop and they had 3 Schefflera, 2 Florida privets, and 2 Ficus. they drew numbers, and i ended up with a ficus. I forget what cultivar of ficus it was though :\ So when i got it, it was this ugly 3 trunked thing with a huge bulge halfway up the main trunk. i had no idea how to get anything out of it! but with Yamil's help, i was able to create a beautiful shohin! i ended up chopping off the main trunk and shortening the whole thing. im super happy with it! the pot i got with it isnt that great, it looks alright, but next time i repot ill get a better fitting pot. ill get pictures for you in a bit!

Nice. I'm in ATL and left my PC at home, so I will upload some when I get home tomorrow evening or the day after.

The nursery was Plant City Bonsai, in Clermont GA. Amazing place, absolutely fantastic.

I was eyeing this little guy today. I wasn't sure what it was and they were asking $35 for it so needless to say, it's still at the nursery.

thanks! im only keeping it indoors for a few days. i want to get familiar with the dry-time of this plant and mix. and we have had rain lately, it will go out soon

Yep, I bring my maple in for the evening about once every week or two just for kicks

i do that sometimes, just to look at them i like to get accustomed to the particular soil and plant mix. each plant and mix is different.

Definitely, this new trident maple's in such a big pot. But it's so hot here I just have been using the hose and watering it in the morning, and by evening our wonderful 90*, soon to be 100* heat dries it out
