How to deal With it?

I have a 30g tall medium planted and medium stocked with fish. I'm thinking of

adding dirt under my substrate to help my plants grow. I was thinking of

miracle grow organic choice potting mix or fluval stratum but I heard that it

leaks ammonia for a couple of weeks. If I add it to my tank, how do I deal with

it and I don't really want to do frequent water changes. In addition, will there

be ammonia,nitrite and nitrate spikes?

Fish:1 female angel, 2 cory, 1 otto, 1 clown pleco and 1 male betta.

Yes it does create ammonia for a while.

You deal with it by doing frequent water changes.

Yes there will be spikes, most people don't do it with fish present until things settle down.

Use a dry powder conditioner, Cloram-x and seachem safe is suppose to neutralize ammonia. Regular water changes would still be the best method
