Baby Otto Appeared today!

Sorry for the crappy phone pic, but I had to catch him before he swam away.

I've only had my ottos for about a month so I'm really surprised to see this little guy already. He seems to be eating just fine and if him (and hopefully his friends) avoid being eaten, is there any special care?

He's about 1cm in length, pretty cute, I will update as he grows if he survives.

Wow your so lucky. I don't know many accounts of people breeding ottos accidentally or otherwise.

Now they are easy to breed? Things must have changed a lot in these last 2 years.

If they survive the acclimation period, they're quite hardy. The first thing my otos did when I brought them home home the pet store was to breed. Nothing came from it but it's that easy.

Congrats! Oto's are so awesome I must say.

The reason it's not very common is that the fry make a tasty treat to other tank mates. If you want to intentionally breed them, I highly recommend a species only tank.

Little guy is still alive, but I've yet to find more, he may be a lone survivor.

Thanks all!
