Aquarist nightmare

Well, thats it for my newly established aquarium, I came in a couple of days ago to find the living room flooded and my tank pissin out like a tap. Ironically I was carrying a new aquarium in the door as I saw the water all over the floor. So fortunately my fish are ok in that one for now. Unfortunately as I discovered that my tank had bust, I also noticed my parrot, Bandit, dead in his cage, so wasnt a good day for me.

I called an aquarium builders to see if they could repair it but because it is a wave front tank and they would have to get the glass cut to fit (it was the bottom of the tank that cracked right across front to back). They informed me it would be cheaper to buy a new aquarium so thats what I did. They did me a custom 48" x 21" x 16" (58 UK gallon) for £75 and £10 delivery and it arrives today! Talk about cheap and fast work.
So my day yesterday was swapping my goldfish and snakehead aquariums and now the rest of today is gonna be setting up the new one and probably most of tomorrow, lol.

I'm so sorry for your loss. RIP Bandit.

I'm glad the fish are okay, though, and that you were able to replace the tank.

Wow, a custom tank like that only costs 75 GBP? Any reason why aquariums in the UK are so much less expensive than here in the states? It's the second time I've seen a custom tank cost like a standard aquarium here in the US.

about the parrot. for the new tank.

So sorry to read this. That sure is a bad day.

So if I understand this correctly, the bottom panel of the wave cracked front to back? I know it's way too late, but my first guess is the stand, but it's obviously just a guess.

That price for a custom tank really is good. I just saw a 20G High priced at $66. The only things that scares me about your new tank is that they turned over to you pretty quick. Silicone needs a good 7 days to fully cure an achieve it's maximum tensile strength.

Thanks guys. It wasnt a good day at all! Yeah, your right Bushkill, they forgot to tell me not to put anything in it for 6-7 days and now I come home from an awsome night in the mountains to find the new one cracked too! Phoned them tonight and theyre buildin one for me tomorrow and Im gonna leave it for a week or so an the fish will have to go into the holding tank. Gonna build a new stand too, dont like the one that came with the old tank.

Im not sure why but I was pretty happy when they told me that, lol. I think its cause its 6mm glass and if it was a few gallons more or few inches bigger it wouldve been 7-8mm an price would went up to about £250. But £75 was really good for a 58 UK gallon tank. I live in the uS a few months of the year now and I checked price comparisons of what people were sellin them for on ebay here an there an I noticed that aquariums are really expensive over there, you think glass would be cheap, lol.
Aye Bushkill, a 20gallon for $66? that is way too much for me for that size, lol

Slammed:- I dinna have any pics of them yet as I keep forgettin to get batteries for my camera! They are only about 3 inches at the moment, only babies, lol. They are Channa Pulchra.

yeah, not good at all!! They told me they could take this one away for me an they will just trash it as it would be too much work to replace the bottom but Im thinkin doin a patch job with another pane of glass siliconed on top to stop it from leakin an turnin it into a paludarium so there aint enough water in it for pressure to the repair and it will basically be a free 60 gallon tank!
