How large of a group of Chili rasbora would you suggest for a 50G 36Lx15Wx21H?

jeez you could fit a kagillion in a 50g. I think people are often surprised at how very tiny these fish are. They are about half the girth of a dwarf shrimp, and shorter. VERY petite. Often in a larger tank, they tend to sort of get lost. Because of this, i would suggest a number that would really sound out of wack for typical stockign ideas- probably 70 or so depending on what else is in the tank.

Msjinkzd, how many Sunkist do you have? Will they interbreed with the Sakura Red? Lastly, can I mixed them with any of the following Blueberry, RCS, CRS, yellows, Malawi, Red Rili? Sorry for all the questions.

Lastly, do you have any Red Tiger shrimps?

They won't complete their lifecycle in fw, so they can be housed with any of those. I don't have any of the orange ones left, there is a brown/tan/orangish version that I still have a few of.

I ordered 100 for my 50 gallon, will be ordering another 100 in a month or so along with 20 otos

When she says they are tiny, they are very tiny! I agree that they might get lost in a 50 gallon. I bought 16 of them for my 12 gallon and should have gotten some more. They are a great fish for the smaller tank.

Yes! I always tell people EVERYTHING looks big in a photo I should do a side by side comparison with shrimp for people to see their small stature.

I have 20 Chili Rasbora in a 10G with 12 Dwarf Zebra Hovering Loaches....tank is empty. I would like to up my Loaches to atleast 24-30. I will also have some nerites, amanos, and 5 otos. I may also add another group of something to the tank as more of a centerpiece fish. The tank will be heavily planted and has 2 Fluval 206s. Do you still feel that 70 would be doable?

EDIT: er, I assume you mean the 50G you previously referenced. Sounds a bit more reasonable...

May I suggest just placing a ruler or some other item inside every tank for comparisons?

I could do that, but they are not going to stand still next to a ruler and a lot of distortion can happen from from to the back of a tank.

Those loaches are awesome, even more awesome wiht more of them. My only concern with that stocking is it is a lot of algae eaters- otos, amanos, nerites. You might want to really let it establish before adding the nerites or the otos. I am guessing this is for the 50g? I really would pick a different fish over brigittae. I think you would like something that is a little more directional in its schooling behavior- danio choprae are a new favorite of mine and are quite outgoing. Other good options of a small fish are espei's rasboras, ember tetras, green neons, kubotai rasbora, brevibora dorsiocellata, etc.
