SAEs

I have 3 SAEs in my 20 gallon planted tank. I read somewhere or someone told me that 3 would be fine in my 20g tank. I think I was miss led because they have started eating my mosses and dwarf baby tears. They have gotten really big and go to the flake food for my other fish first all the time. Should I look at relocating them or could I even keep one in this tank? I have checked too and they are real SAEs and not fire foxes or the fake SAEs.

You should rehome all three of them. A 20 gal is too small for them and one by itself will not be happy. I keep mine in 55 and 75 gal tanks.

I agree. Rehome them. They can get 6 inches and a 20g is too small. As they get older they develop a real liking for flake food and let up on the algae eating.

Lucky you they eating whatever 'greens' they can feed on. I bought 6 for 180 gal, and they have never shown any significant interest in any algae or moss, only in bloodworms and CRSes!!! I managed to catch 4 of them taking in the process all my hardscape out and the whole jungle od NL Javas growing all over.

Thanks for the help. Was gonna plan on giving them to a buddy that has a 50 gallon african cichlid tank. They are about 2.5 to 3 inches now. Would they be ok going into his tank?

If the cichilds cannot eat them, then they should.
