Looking for tips for wabi-kusa?

I'm intrigued by these, but I'm not quite sure how to put one together. Do you focus on emsered plants, or can there be submersed ones? How do you hold them together? Can you put plants that root in water in there? How does a newbie go about making one of these?

Research on WabiKusa can be a challenge. There are a few threads on here about it if you search. I just googled it and used translator to try and read all the japanese websites on the topic. One of the recent ADA catalogs also has an entire section on WabiKusa but good luck finding one of those.
