What LEDs for 12 gallon long?

Hey all, I just purchased a Mr. Aqua 12 gallon long tank because I love the unique dimensions (35.4L x 8.3W x 9.4H). The tough part is finding a way to light it well. I would like to do low to medium light plants as I won't be doing CO2. I've looked at Ecoxotic Panorama units as well as Current Trulumen Pro strips. I'm not sure if either of those would work well or be enough light. Please let me know your opinions or other options. The tough part is where this aquarium will be on my bookcase there is very little room for lighting, so a narrow form factor is very important. Please let me know your opinions.

Thanks,

Nivekid

You may want to take a look at the 12gal journal linked in my signature.

I use the Marineland Double Bright 36" LED in a low-light, low-tech setup. A few others on the forum do the same.

You'll have to raise it above your tank 6-8" to stay in the lower light range. But it's about the only 36" LED fixture you can buy ready made that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

forgive me its.. late.. LOL>.

but if the double bright has to be elevated.. why would the single bright not suffice to keep it in the low light range?

There's the possibility that it could... but the LEDs used in the Single are mostly just there for show. Not much else.

There are a couple threads here on the forum where we've discussed the differences if you want to search around.

Take a look at this screenshot from the Marineland site. The Single is barely enough for moss at any length. And the longer the Double fixture, the more lighting you get.
