Low Tech 10 gal *HELP*

Fauna:
2 Anubias Nana
2 Amazon Swords
A ball of java moss
*Planning on adding some vals or crypts in the future*

Hey guys, wondering if you can help me out. I'm planning on changing my stock tube but don't know which one to get. Also I have know idea what T5, T8, etc means, or how many watts is appropriate. I've had this planted tank for about 3 months now, meaning I'm pretty new. Can you guys recommend me a couple, thanks!

Standard tube lights that come with the basic hood are T12 I think. If you're going for low tech/low maintenance all you would need to do is upgrade your bulb. Make sure you have something with 6500K or higher spectrum. Nothing fancy. T5 are a much more powerful light and the more powerful light, the more necessity for co2 to help your plants out-compete algae. Far from an expert but I've paid attention to these boards for a little while.

Just took a peep at my stock tube, it was a T8 Natural Daylight. I was looking at either the Aqueon "ColorMax" T8 or the "FloraMax" T8, don't know if your familiar with those two.

If you're going for low tech that most likely means low light. Your stock lighting is fine for a low light setup and if you get brighter lights you might have to start adding fertilizers and adding co2. T8 tubes are good low light setups.

If you ever decide to upgrade the lighting I would suggest T5No (Single) I and this will keep you in the LOW tech area.

Or just replacing the hood and get CFL bulbs... Those are great for a 10 gallon. Either 2 10 or 2 13 watt CFL would be sufficient.

color max and flora max are just different spectrums, the colormax is supposed to highlight the fish's color better, and the flora max is geared toward plant growth.
