My 29g Obsession
Hello PT.net -
This is my 29gallon which is always a work in progress. Currently have 1 betta, 15 cardinal tetras, 1 cory, 1 BN pleco, 3 nerite snails, and 3 Amano shrimp. Will be putting about 20+ cherry shrimp and rili shrimp in next week. 5lb Pressurized CO2 from GLA with solenoid, and atomic diffuser 24" Hagen GLO T5HO fixture with 1 6700k, and 1 10000k bulb Lights on 9 hrs a day (CO2 comes on 1hr before lights come on) Aquaclear 50 Koralia Nano 240 EI dosing with Seachem product line Currently working on getting that riccia to fill in on the slate, and rocks. The baby tears in the foreground are always a pain, and consistently try to float. Let me know what you guys think, and if you have any suggestions to improve my scape! ![]()

Looks nice! Really luscious and green. Only suggestion would be to ditch the fake plant background and get a solid color one instead.

Thanks for the suggestion. I took it down as I saw it was wet in those pictures in the upper left hand corner.
Here is another pic without the background - ![]() Im thinking maybe a solid black background? It looks like many people on here just go without one. |

A quick update -
Recently added the black background, got rid of the AC50, and replaced it with an eheim 2217. The water has never been this clear - ever. Also got 10 CRS from greenfish today. Looking great so far. They seem to like the riccia a lot. Here are some new pictures ![]() ![]() ![]()

I ended up cutting the spray bar so it would fit on the side of the glass, and have flow throughout the tank.

Trying something new...
Over the last week or so I have converted this aquarium to an all shrimp tank (Amano/RCS/CRS)! The light intensity has been reduced to low light. I still have the CO2 running, dosing EI less, and water changes will be cut down from 50% a week to 20% every two weeks. Shrimp are from greenfish, and gordonrichards. CRS grades range from low to A and S. There is also a higher grade shrimplet in the tank from Gordon. Not sure what grade it would be? See the pictures below. ![]() ![]() Here is a picture of that higher grade little guy -

wow you have such a great looking 29 gal tank! I was blown away by how great this looks esp. When I look at my 29 and it looks nothing even near how nice yours is! Hey since it's been a month you should post an update of the FTS!

New Photos. Tank doing well. No shrimp deaths.
Two female CRS's are berried, and I have a lot of RCS babies swimming around. CRS's should give birth soon. Can't wait! Going to buy some BW Bebi for the shrimplets. On the plant side of things - Plants are starting to show some potassium deficiency (pin holes in some leaves). Haven't been dosing any ferts, light is on the low side, and CO2 is very low. Inserted a few root tabs today to feed the Amazon swords. ![]() ![]() CRS grazing on some peacock moss ![]() The riccia on the stone (left side of tank) is driving me crazy. Probably going to sell it, and attach moss to it instead. My only concern is that the baby shrimp love to hide/eat in the riccia. Don't want to take any out of the tank!
