150 gallon high dirted tank

In November I decided to start my first planted tank, a 150 gallon high with cabinet for 200! The dimensions are 48"x30"x24" so it's been a challenge finding good lighting but I'm starting to get there. I don't have the funds to go high tech as I'm only 14 but I'll give it my best shot.

I bought a collection of 122 plants for 20 at Plants Alive and I got:
Rotala Macranda
Dwarf Sag
Crypt Parva
Elodea Densa
Bacopa Monnerii
Rotala Indica
Cabomba Caroliniana
Hygrophila Polysperma
Ludwigia Mullertii
Twisted Vallisneria
Java Moss
Mayaca Fluviatilis
Ludwigia Natans
Hygrophila Difformis
Crypt Ciliata
Nymphea Maculata and I took some Hornwort from my endler tank. There are more plants but I cannot ID them. The crypt parva is doing amazing and is so green!

I used a layer of just over an inch of aquatic soil capped it with a layer of sand and the huge bit of wood I have cost my 80! My filter is an All Pond Solutions 2000ef plus with a UV sterilizer. I started with 2 T8 bulbs with no reflectors but the plants actually grew! About 2 days ago I added a third bulb with reflector but while I was fiddling with the lights, the original bulbs fell and smashed so now I'm left with one T8 and a reflector. Luckily, I've ordered a 4 bulb T5HO fixture with reflectors which should arrive tomorrow.

As for fish, I've got 6x Albino cories,
10x Rummynose tetra,
7x Harlequin rasbora,
1x scalare angel,
2x kuhli loach,
2x GBR

1x bristlenose plec and I'm going to increase the Rummynose and harlequin rasbora numbers and maybe add a school of cardinals.

At the moment, the tank is looking at its worst, I tried to move the plants around but a lot have started to melt and with the extremely low light, things aren't going so well. But not for long! I'm trying to plan out a nice scape and the new lights will really help out a lot.

Before

The picture was taken a couple of weeks ago before I bought most of my fish but I'll post a new pic when the new lights arrive. I'll try and update this as often as I can but thanks for reading!

Welcome to the hobby! It looks like you've made a good start with everything given your constraints. Have you checked out the United Kingdom Aquatic Plant Society, www.ukaps.org? They're a great bunch of folks and I'm sure could help you source materials, fish, and plants over there in England.

Regards,
Phil

Lol, I thought that too.

I dig that piece of wood - once that tank grows in it's going to be awesome.

I have to have the spray bar like that because the rim of the tank is weird.
The glass on the top means that I can't have the spray bar as it should be so it looks weird

Thanks for your comments!
