My first real planted tank tank

Hi all been a long time lurker, and maybe posted a time or two, but i enjoy reading peoples stuff.

I have been keeping fish for about 30 years. Started with goldfish when I was a kid and ran the gammut to salt water, breeding bettas to now planted tanks.

I have 2x 55 gallon tanks, 1 is planted hodge podge and another is a tank I use to put fish in people dont want they give them to me. currently it has a few female bettas and some tiger barbs. I about found them homes and will break it down and make it planted also. I need to replace the frame on it(cracked)

5.5 gallon with 2 cherry barbs and dwarf hair grass

2.5 that is just moss right now, I am finishing my hood for it, will become a shrimp tank

My sons 29 gallon glo fish disco tank

17 gallon tall same dimensions as a 10 gallon but taller....(empty)

2 ten gallons(empty)

betta barracks (empty)

3 x 2.5 gallon tanks (empty)

Anyways decided to post what i am doing.

Equipment:
20 gallon high (found cheap at the thrift store $5)
Penguin biowheel 110

Finnex 360 canister (in addition to the biowheel 110, its being used by my 5.5 tank)
4 tube t5ho light fixture (4 x 24w) 6500k
2 nighttime Blue LEDS
30 lbs of eco complete substrate
3 "zebra stone" rocks from a pet store
100w heater
digital thermometer
Paintball/Regulator setup Aquatek regulator
Cheap Ebay glass diffuser broke, diffusing in filter
Back is blacked out with vinyl from a craft store

Also put some wisteria floating in cause i am fighting algae.....that stuff seems to suck nutrients ... I also cut my lighting back... my hairgrass is turning brown from algae....

it has filled in, I rearranged the plants a bit. still fighting algae, but its becoming less of an issue. the perkeri died off and new growth is coming in. The HC and dwarf hair grass has started ti fill in.

current inhabitants:

3 ottos
4 Galaxy rasboras
1 ghost shrimp (i used to cycle the tank)

Just got my order in from msjinksd of 10 cory habrosus and 4 galaxy rasboras

added my finnex filter, since this pic was taken i have removed the rotala indica. It was getting intrusive. I will post more recent pics tonight probably.

Looks good. You'll be wanting to get rid of that sword sooner than later too.

LOL , funny you mentioned that , I was thinking the same thing. I moved it out tonight to my 55 gallon, and put in the 2 tiny swords i had in it.... I cant wait to watch it grow.

Thank you, not sure why I havent had more comments. Maybe I am a newbie here. Its my first real tank I took the time to aquascape....I will post updated pics later today

Added 2 amano shrimp to help fight the algae... they have already clean up the string algae that was forming

Looking good! The new smaller swords are definitely better than that big one you had.
