If you need a fish list you should check out the nano tank section. Based on the amount of water in your tank I would think most of those fish would work pretty good in there.

Added a 5 year old Anubius on the right side, its bloomed many times. Using trellis raft for purple waffle

The tank is next to a window so I think most of the light the plants get are from the window light. I plan to replace the marineland light with a 16 watt LED clamp light I posted above once I can find where to buy it. I also need to upgrade the filter. Fluval U1 is not big enough and right now ammonia is very high (fish less cycle) I think I need more flow and turn over if I want to keep fish.

Hey Newday! Looks good - did you upgrade the filter? How's the fishless cycle coming along? I did the same (fishless cycle) on my tank but I was fortunate to have media from my other well established tank. It took about 8 days to get good reading and then waited another 6 days before adding fish.

I am trying to figure out why nitrate and ammonia is so high still. Ammonia is about 8 ppm and nitrate is showing 110!! I didn't soak the drift wood and I wonder if it's leaching something to cause the ammonia. The water is tea color which expected but I also like the look of it this way. I have not got the filter yet. I want to get the new ehiem compactaqua looks perfect for this type of tank but I can. Of find it anywhere online to buy it. I am going to wait out the ammonia so more. I have. Or cycled a tank in awhile, my other tank is 4 years

I emailed the company about that and they wouldn't give me a good answer. It's been saying that it's coming soon since I started looking at them in August '11. If you get one be sure to post if it's good or not. I ended up getting the Eheim 2232 for like $40 on CL. It's made for up to 35 gallons, but with the valves it worked perfect for my 17gal riparium. It's real nice and super easy to use.

By the way the tank looks great. What's the variegated plant in the middle? I really like how that looks.

Looks like the tank is cycled now need to plan the fish. Still want new canister looking at ehiem 2232 now and upgraded led lighting

Broke down and got an eheim classic 2211 with 66gph flow and aimed the spray bar against the back wall which makes it dead silent, since the tank is in the kitchen.


Fern is doing ok. And purple veined plant is doing well too. Tank is fully cycled so starting to plan the fish but have no idea yet
