Its not a bad sign The brown on the tops was from the bin overheating in my emersed window setup. I've tried it in my main tank a couple times and it just slowly melts away after a month or two.

My guess as to the cause is either the temp is too high (84F - discus tank) and/or a potassium deficiency. I just havent gotten around to trying to fix it since I have it doing fairly well emersed.

That sucks that you don't even know if you can breed the zebras then. I'm gonna let my pearls breed in their breeder tank for a while. Then i'm gonna separate the snowballs into another tank. Might as well work with what i got! Oh and crs tonight!!! Yay!!

using the 29b as an emersed tank while i work on logistics of setting up a frog tank. it's using the misting system i got last week for a good deal to keep things at roughtly 85% humidity

my red rilli's gave birth. i have a few little shrimplets scampering around. too tough to catch them for pics. and the orange ones are definitely caridina cf. propinqua. they are starting to get brown stripes. so sad.

oh, i bought 10 rilli's to start with. one of my females is saddled, and i did a water change today, so i have my fingers crossed for berries in the next day or so.

You're getting firebellies, right? They don't need super high humidity. You'll be better off with a bit lower humidity and higher airflow. They love being in the water...especially if they can "stand" where most of their body is submerged and their head is above water. I have a piece of slate siliconed in a corner just below the water level and my froggies are on it all the time.

actually, that tank will be for white's tree frogs. i'm planning on breaking down my 125 in the next few months and making it a 125g paludarium for fire bellies.
i can easily keep my humidity wherever i want with the misting system. right now, it's gonna be used to house my rare crypts for the breakdown. i just need to find homes for my fishies. the raphael's are gonna be the hard ones to find homes for.
