Don't worry Bill. I'll hook you up with a few more SSS next time you are over. I was a little nervous about the CRS going into your fresh tank.

Lol. I understand. The only thing fresh in that tank is the water. I used the onld substrate and filter material, as well as a seeded filter as well. The shrimp stratum and the peat i added should have made the water soft enough for them. They colored back up in about 2 minutes after they hit the tank. I even have molts already. Guess they are happy

Very cool.

BTW. Let me know if you need to pick up anything at TPP next weekend. I am heading out to York at least 2 times this week.

I just picked up some shrimp stratum this weekend (canceled my amazonia order). I'm drystarting a tank with it and will add shrimp in a few weeks or so once it grows in.
What was your before and after Ph? Just curious what I can expect once I flood the tank.

My 10g that I loaded with peat is still at Ph 7.4 (was 8) - spotted a couple CRS babies last night. Keeping my fingers crossed that they survive this time.

ok, my parameters are as follows: ph 6.4, ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 0

jason, the combo of fluval shrimp stratum, peat, soil and a couple gallons of ro water should have brought the gh/kh down. but i don't have a meter. besides, everybody in the tank seems happy and my berried chocolate still has her eggs, so i think we are good

Bill,

That's the way I feel. Whether it's fish or shrimp, once you see that they are thriving, don't mess with the water. No need to test it all the time. I think we agreed on letting nature do it's courses.

Thanks Bill.

BTW - I have DHG 'belem' if anyone is interested. I used what I wanted to scape the soon to be shrimp tank so the rest is up for grabs. About a 6"x8" mat. If you're interested in any, let me know by the end of the week - after that i'm going to sell it on the SnS. For locals its free (for a square inch or 2)

you can always try it out by running it in your filter first.
