How often do they need to eat something other than algae?
Amanos are exceptionally easy to supplement. I would not start feeding them other things until they have eaten a lot of your algae, as they will eat what is easiest to get.

No one told me my shrimp would run upside-down along the surface of the water for flake food. lol They ate 80% of the algae in less than 48 hours!

I love watching them surf by grabbing a piece of duckweed just before it gets into the filter current. I can almost hear them going "wheeeeeeee"

I got my Amanos order yesterday. Man I haven't this been excited about shrimp unless I was eating them! They look great, thank you for getting to my order so quickly after such a busy weekend you had. I can't wait to get them into my main tank and see them go crazy..

What is the difference between otocinclus affinis and otocinclus vittata? I have some o. affinis from my lfs but you have o. vittat and they look practically the same.
