Bio's 55g Build

So i got this tank on craigslist about 2 months ago for $50, came with a stand, tank, hood, 48in t10 light, crappy gravel, a crappy heater, and an emeperor 400 that made a bajillion micro bubbles. So i am in the process of over hauling it
Fish: Zebra daino's from the cycle (including 2 glofish)
4 Bristle nose pleco's
1 evil macrobracium shrimp (ghost from walmart)
and the last remaining oto out of 3 (2 croaked)

Plants: ATM, 2 java ferns

Layout: 2 pieces of Malaysian driftwood, meramac river gravel (fine) which is from a local river in missouri. 18in bubble wand (do i need to run air?), AC70 (to replace that bubble making 400) and an aqueon pro 250. And my latest addition, my new T5HO 54w 6700k light fixture from catalina aquarium. Must say i like it so far.

on the way: Concoa 212 dual stage reg

plans: 5, 10 or 15lb (maybe 20) co2 tank, and building my reg setup. Thinking about what plants i want to put in here too, thinking of a crypt forest on the right or left side.

Feed back is greatly appreciated.

Got 2 dwarf lily bulbs planted (they were sprouting at the store) and an amazon sword. Is it possible for amazon sword to pearl? I ask cause there was a bubble sitting on the end of the leaf. This is no where near the air stones

You should provide more hiding areas for the CPO's or the parents might eat the babies. It's really hit or miss with them, sometimes they will eat them, other times they won't.

I think the AC70 is definitely providing enough filtration to the tank. Are you looking for more water circulation? If so is your AC70 centered in the tank or is it off to one side? Either way, move the AC70 onto one side of the tank, and then you can buy a cheap powerhead and put that on the other. By increasing the circulation and waster movement you'll have cleaner water as well.

yea, i took your advice, got a powerhead/circulation pump coming. Also got some breeding boxes on the way too. i may throw some moss in the box and let the mama drop the eggs there. Also got some neons in yesterday. No more daino's, just the lone glofish (who thinks he is a tetra now)

Which circluation pump did you get? Just stick a sponge over the intake so it doesn't suck up shrimps, and you're good to go! Make sure you don't aim it upwards, or when you do WC's you might end up spraying water all over your house o.O!

I had one glofish at one point as well lol. It schooled with the tetras!

i ended up with a marine-land maxi-jet 400 (circulation mode it claims 500gph) and bought a sponge pre filter for it. Started with 4 glofish, i dont recommend them, they seriously died for no reason. I got my concoa reg. today...its sexy to say the least. My order from kens should be in on thursday. That will have my pump in it
