Steel Mesh, where you buy it?

Sorry I know its a nubz question but where do you guy get the stainless mesh you use for mounting moss to and stuff? I am using a 3d background and i was going to put all the lines and equipment behind the background. I am going to use the mesh as part of a overflow system.

You can buy your own on amazon.com, I would google the different grid sizes/mesh thickness to find one you like. If that's too much trouble h4n also sells them http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/sp...-capsules.html and that's where I normally get mine from.

If you want something really-REALLY specific, go to McMaster-carr . . . they are an industrial supplier and carry absolutely every size wire mesh that is available. 316 or 304 stainless steel are what you want. 316 is the highest rated for corrosion resistance and 304 is still plenty good, but slightly cheaper. If you just want general purpose / 'common stuff', amazon.com is where to go.

+1 to McMaster-Carr they're great suppliers for just about anything. As I recall a 12x12 piece of stainless mesh at the wire/hole size you'd use for something like a prefilter is about $7.

I got mine off Amazon, I remember getting 12x12" for $3.49, they still have 12x12" for $6ish, and a variety of other sizes/thicknesses, look around there's a lot. Just don't get one too thick like I did cause it's hard to cut.

I got this to cut, still a PITA. SS edges are sharp too, so I'd calk the edges or cover with half a inline tubing or something, if it's going in with fish.

If you're looking for snips, Every store that sells HVAC (sheet metal) products sells Aviation snips in three types. Straight, Left Hand curl, Right Hand curl. There are two nose configurations. Straight tip and bent tip. All the variations are there to allow cutting sheet metal with out cutting your self in the process. Bent tip is great for cutting into in place duct work.

This page shows the greatest variety, I could quickly find.

Hi!

Sadly I am getting out of the hobby due to allergy issues. Mites, mold and some of the plants are just wreaking havoc on me.

Didn't want to invest all the money in another reef so i am going the planted route.....which will probably land me face first into another nano reef.

I would say go with plastic instrad, contrary to popular belief, some stainless steel will corrode over time, if you go that rout, make sure you get quality stuff. But I had great luck with black plastic mesh and suction cups.
