TPT Book Club

Hey all, I was just scouring the internet looking for some titles to read and though that maybe a few people on here would have some input.

I am an avid reader. I buy kindles and E-readers, fill them with books and when ive finished reading them all I gift them to family members. I am currently on Kindle number 3 and just picking up alot of the free and cheap books from the kindle store, most of which are self published and very raw and unrefined. Honestly though, where alot of these books lack editing and the book equivelent of "Production Value" many of the stories and ideas in them are truley fantastic. If you can get past their writeing styles that is.

So my thought on this is to start a small book club of sorts! Use this thread to discuss books you have read and what you did, and did not like about the books and if you reccomend them. Ill start with a few books and series I have recently read.

the War God series by David Weber - When i first bought the first in the series, Oath of Swords I barely made it 40 pages in before i started scourering the store looking for a different book. I went to sleep and when i woke up, i thought i would give another 15 pages before i sat the book down for good, and man am i glad i did. Once i was immersed into the world that weber created I was truely hooked. Ive incorperated the character traits and some of the Gods from these books into DnD campains because I have grown so attached to them. Typos are prevelent at some points and the editing could use alot of work, but the story of these books deserves a well earned pat on the back.

Kingdom of Landover: For Sale/Sold by Terry Brooks - Terry Brooks has been a family favorite for many years, and I have no idea why I never read this book, but when I got it out of a old box in the addic by accident and decided to read this, I was so glad I did. It has everything you expect in a Fantacy novel and more and a whole lot of comedy thown in for good measure. I reccomend both this and his Sword of Shannara series to any fantacy reader.

The Book of 5 Rings by Miyamoto Musashi - For any aspireing Martial Artist, Philosopher, Historian, or Stratagist this book is a must. It breaks the idea of war and personal stratagy down into the 5 sections of that time era's buddhist beleifs of Fire, Water, Air, Earth and the Nothingness(I guess this does not translate well into english.) It is, to signifigantly symplify my explanation, the Japanese version of the Art of War. Another interesting idea is that many of the strategic points in the book are written as if your forces are badly outnumbered, so if your like me any play alot of real time stratagy games it can be very very useful.

Soldier of the Legion Series by Marshall S. Thomas - I simply love this series. Its old school, Military Sci-Fi with political intrigue, an Alien Race, and characters that you will never forget. I highly reccomend this one for some light and fun reading.

Well guys, show me what you have!

A tale of the Malazan book of the fallen by Steven Erikson is an amazing fantasy series. The first book is only decent but the series pick up momentum fast and gets to be you're new favorite!

Right now, I'm reading Life As We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer, it gets pretty interesting once you read to the middle. But I would recommend you read The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. It's about this girl who finds out about her family's hidden secret when her mother gets abducted. Then she, along with some others, journey out to find her. I seriously love to read!
