Ely's tropical fish and water garden in Florham Park

I just visited this place for the first time yesterday. It had some interesting fish there that you don't see every day. They also seemed to have a decent plant selection as well. I thought the prices were rather high. At first I was impressed by how active the catfish selection was, but then I realized how skinny all the fish there are. I think they were just desperately forging for food. What are others impressions of this place?

I too was there a few weeks ago. I found it to be a well stocked store with some unique fish. A knowledgeable owner, and as you stated high prices.
I inquired about plants and was told they were going to get a big delivery the next day. I returned a few days later to find the selection did not change.

I've been trying to get to this store for a while now, but they close so early it's difficult to get there without spending hours in rush hour traffic. Did either of you happen to notice if they had yellow rainbows? Also know as lake tebera or HerbertAxelrodi.

Yeah the store was flooded from Hurricane Irene (wasn't the first time either), so if you know where the drainage routes are and could avoid the nearby airport-possible terrorist entanglements, you just might find the fish you're looking for somewhere downriver.

Good Luck

they definitely don't have the best hours. I honestly didn't notice much of a rainbow selection. You should call and ask.

I've known Steve a long time & dealt with his father before he took over. I've bought livestock from him for a long time. If there are fish there that look underfed, my guess is that they were newer stock & haven't adjusted yet. I've never had any problems there & Steve has even told me to wait on some of the stock until he can see how they adjust.

Went there yesterday. I would've guessed the owner probably saw this post as all the fish were so fat when i paid a visit.

Livestock are somehow overpriced, way more than absolutely fish.

I went there a few years back. I was not very impressed. The fish weren't bad, but the plant selection was less than optimal and the guy working there was rather rude.

He may be rude, but he knows his [censored][censored][censored][censored]. Not to mention really rare specimen fish. I wouldn't go there for plants, but fish ! yes... Hillstream Loaches!! and large Clown Loaches..

if you buy enough, he will give you a discount.

also he tank raises sting rays.
