A 12 gallon long Mr. Aqua Iwagumi with Tangerine Tigers (TT), Orange Eye Blue Tiger (OEBT), Black Tiger Orange Eye (BTOE)

A 7.5 gallon Mr. Aqua bowfront Breeder Tank with A - SSS grade Crystal Red Shrimp (CRS)

A 20 gallon long breeder tank with Black King Kong (BKK), crystal whites, and Wine Red (WR) Taiwan Bees

So as I am hopefully starting to more actively sell some of my shrimp I figured people might want to take a look at the tanks where they are kept and provide a convenient place for me to point them if they want pictures. Not sure how often this thread will see updates, but feel free to subscribe if interested. The tanks are:

12 gallon long Mr. Aqua Iwagumi with Tangerine Tigers (TT), Orange Eye Blue Tiger (OEBT), Black Tiger Orange Eye (BTOE), and Red Rili.

5 gallon Fluval Chi Riparium with SS grade Crystal Red Shrimp (CRS)

A 7.5 gallon Mr. Aqua bowfront Breeder Tank with Black King Kong (BKK) and Wine Red (WR) Taiwan Bees.

A 20 gallon long breeder tank that has yet to be set up. Will probably move the Taiwan Bees to this tank and be trying some crossbreeding in the 7.8 gallon.

Slowly over the next few days I will dedicate a post to each tank.

The first tank I am going to talk about is actually my favorite to watch, mainly because I absolutely love the dimensions of this tank.

Mr. Aqua 12 gallon long (35.4L x 8.3W x 9.4H)
Lighting: 2x Archaea 27 W Power Compact
Filtration: Eheim 2013 and Sponge Filter (all shrimp tanks should have a sponge filter or two)
Substrate: A mix of Fluval Stratum and Aquasoil Amazonia II
Hardscape: Local Lava Rock, Cholla Wood
Fauna: TT, OEBT, BTOE, Red Rilli
Flora: HC, Dwarf Hairgrass, eleocharis vipara
Water Parameters: GH = 6, KH=1, pH=6.5, Temp = 68-74

I'm still working on figuring out how to take best photos, so some shots are better than others.

Talk about poop lol. That thing is almost as big as him. I like the scape on your 12g long. I've been thinking of getting one since I miss having a large tank but I can't justify afford an 80usd tank right now.

One question…. Won’t the OEBT’s and the TT interbreed? Nice tank by the way, I have been going over and over about getting one myself.

They are both Cardina and should cross, but myself and others keep them together in the same tank without interbreeding. I have no explanation why not, but like I said I am not the only one who does this.

12 gallon long is a really fun shape to aqua scape and makes a great shrimp tank due to the large footprint. I highly recommend it.

I got in some Black Tiger Orange Eye and 2 Crystal White Bees from Speedie today. The BTOE for now at least are going in my 12 gallon long. They will definitely cross breed in there with the OEBT, but haven't 100% decided what my plans for them are yet so for now that is OK. I actually would really like to see what a BTOExTT would look like but TT seem to resist cross breeding, but I think that is my primary goal as of now for them.

The crystal whites are going into the 7.8 gallon taiwan bee tank. I will be selectively breeding them to the BKK. This is where the 20 gallon tank comes into play as if successful, the pure line Bees will be moved to it and will raise the hybrids in the 7.8 gallon tank.

They are hiding like crazy right now, but will get some pics once they color up and come out to play.

A Polish breeder just confirmed TT X Orange Eye Black Tiger hybridization.

As usual with Caridina Serrata (TT, Aura Blue, Red Tupfel shrimp - all color variants of the same shrimp) this breeding will likely require forced breeding because if the TTs have their own species to mate with they likely won't mate with the black tigers.

Any pics? Yea, definitely realize I am going to have to provide some not so gentle encouragement to get them to cross. I will either be using breeder boxes or yet another tank.

Next tank up is a Fluval Chi Riparium. I thought I might try and see how hardy higher grade CRS are after seeing Newman keep SS grade in a shrimpbowl. While I am using remineralized RO on the tank as my tap is very hard, there is only a pretty small sponge filter and no active substrate. A lot of plant matter to soak up Ammonia/Nitrates though. Water changes are the same on this tank as my others, about 30% every other week. It is my newest tank and currently has 4 berried mamas, I will be anxious to see how the babies do in this setup. Still waiting for the terrestrial plants to fill in, they have had a pretty long recovery period post shipping/planting (except for the milkweed...it grows like, well, a weed)

Lighting: 23 watt CFL
Filtration: Small Sponge Filter
Substrate: Petco Black Sand
Hardscape: Manzanita
Fauna: SS grade CRS, 1 amano shrimp for algae control
Flora (aquatic): Pygmy Chain Sword, Flame Moss
Flora (terrestrial): Milkweed, cyperus umbrella, UG, Cat Palm, Pilea grandifolia, Alternanthera
Water Parameters: GH = 4, KH=0.5, pH=6.3, Temp = 70-72

The money tank so to speak, as in I can't believe how much money I've spent on this tank. A 7.5 gallon Mr. Aqua bowfront pretty much set up for Taiwan Bee breeding purposes. Lots of moss, some cholla "breeding tubes", low light, lots of filtration, and very tight tolerances on water conditions. Just now starting to get babies after being pretty patient with it.

Tank: Mr. Aqua Bowfront (7.5 gallons, 18.1 x 9.4 x 10.2") + external breeder box
Lighting: Archaea 18" LED
Filtration: 10 gallon Sponge Filter, Aquaclear 20 with seachem matrix and purigen
Substrate: Aquasoil Amazonia II
Hardscape: Cholla Wood, Mopani Driftwood
Fauna: BKK, WR, Crystal Whites
Flora : Flame Moss, fissidens, Crypt Keei, Crypt Nurii Pahang mutated, Frogbit
Water Parameters: GH = 4, KH=0.5, pH=5.8, Temp = 71

I am dealing with some cyanobacteria on the above tank. It covers the moss and the substrate. I keep it under control using blackouts, but it keeps coming back, ever after week long blackouts. I am not going to risk using any chemicals due to the huge investment I have in the livestock of the tank. Any other options?

I've delt with bga before and upping my plant mass seemed to work. I dont really know a whole lot about it other than its a huge ugly pain in the ass. I think it sprouts up when some specific nutrient level is low. Someone will give you a better answer eventually.
