Add me to the list even though I am over in SJ. I am over in Philly a lot. On a side note, I am noticing a bunch of baby CRS in my CRS colony.

Sounds like your doing exactly what I want to do with the black diamond. Big ol' dirted tank with black sand cap. I just read an article about mineralizing the dirt. Basically you get all the wood chunks out by drain and fill, then you spread the dirt on a tarp, let dry, rinse, dry, rinse, dry, and into the tank. They mentioned spreading dolomite and some other stuff on the glass bottom so that the pH stays buffered under the dirt. I plan to do that eventually, but the first thing I'm going to do with the black diamond is do an anubias only tank with breeding bristlenose plecos.

Never really read up on them. I assume you mix with the dirt? If you have a link to a page describing their benefit I would greatly appreciate it!

the castings is the dirt.

Instead of topsoil, I use worm castings.

Gotcha, I actually just read up on the WC and I still have mixed thoughts. I'm gonna try MGPS first because I already have a bag of that. If I plan to try WC in the future I'll let you know. Thank you for the offer though.
