"MacAquarium" 20cm cube reboot

Restarted the scape for my DoAqua 20cm cube. Previous history of this tank has been documented on my YouTube site located in my signature. Hardware line-up:
filtration: Eheim 2211, intake pipe adjusted for depth & foam inserted in uptake screen
lighting: Archaea 17cm clamp-on LED
CO2: 20oz paintball cylinder, Aquatic Life regulator, DoAqua Music Counter & Mini Music glass duffuser
facade: Macintosh SE/30 case modified & LEGO tank pedestal
hardscape: monolithic Seiryu stone
flora: E. tenellus backround, H. callitrichoides foreground (original setup)> replaced backround to H glomeratus
fauna: (trio) 2m/1f Elassoma okeefenokee, Neocardina heteropoda-"wild">colony of E. okeefenokee & "wild" Neos

-Gradual replacement of backround planting
-Remove suspended HC carpet (caused by Elassoma) & replanted rooted HC cuttings in foreground
-Original start: 5 Sep 12> rescape 23 Aug 13
-Video will be posted on YouTube
Suggestions are always welcome.

Default Update

Added a new colony of "wild" Neos. Here's a pic of the growth progress.

Default Tank Update

Super Bowl Sunday update. The HC growth is holding steady. H. glomeratus was thinned out last week. No predators (Elassoma no longer in the tank) so colony of wild Neos and scuds are maintaining population levels with shrimplettes visibly moving throughout the tank. Found a "floppy disc" to complete the look.

Installed an inline CO2 atomizer on the intake side of the canister filter last nite. The wrong sized atomizer (16/22mm) was sent from an online source and had to adjust using 5/8"OD x 1/2" ID tubing to make connection. Used existing DoAqua Music Glass & check valve to complete installation. One less item to hide & hopefully more efficient CO2 utilization. Pics to follow after I do some trimming.

Thanks Kai! 3D screen saver but no bubble sounds haha. I'll be entering it in the Aquascapes show this summer. You entering any tanks for the show?

Updated pic after trimming of H glomeratus & w/o the in-tank CO2 diffuser (in-line atomizer installed). HC is pearling & slowly spreading, hopefully in time for Aquascapes show!

Default LEGO pedestal mod

The original pedestal was configured with 2X2X6 black bricks into a four sided box. I modified the 11 layer high pedestal by eliminating the lower sections of the front & back walls (removed 8 layers from front wall & 3 layers in back). I also installed 3 sets of rollers under both side walls to allow the tank to be rolled out for servicing. The pedestal & tank are kept in place with "chocks" in front of 1st set of rollers. Functional LEGO use in action.

The Mac case was gutted and the top cut out to provide access to lighting and filtration pipes/CO2. The 17cm LED clamp light has provided a PAR level sufficient for HC to carpet the foreground. The only issue I had with this fixture was the clear plastic splash guard that protects the diodes started to discolor and was removed.

The recent conversion from in tank diffuser to an inline atomizer eliminated another item going into the tank. Incorporated the glass bubble counter and check valve from the original CO2 set up to the present injection method. The Ehiem 2211 & the AquaticLife regulator/20oz paintball continues to provide over 33 months of uninterrupted service to my 1st planted tank.

Yeah, wanted to keep the case original looking so, the "yucky beige" stays. For a nano, gets a lot of tech. Canister filtration, pressurized CO2 & high PAR LED lighting for a 20cm cube may seem like overkill to some but this was my 1st attempt @ planted tanks so, wanted to be successful w/ HC!

Default 1st Place!!!

I entered this tank in a planted tank show put on by one of our LFS "Aquascapes". It was judged by 3 judges & awarded 1st! I am so thankful to Jojo & Reina for helping me get back into the hobby. This is my 1st planted tank & I am so proud of it as well as all my other tanks. I got to meet some of the other very talented local scapers and got lots of new ideas for future projects. I won a ADA 60F!!! Now I have to convince my GF that it will fit into our little 1 BR apt w/the other 6 tanks! Wish me luck.

I didn't enter a tank. Just went down to pick up some fish and check out all the tank entries.
