Hello experts, i hope you can help me out....

I seem to be getting a bad case of the brown algae on my piece of wood. Can you possibly help me out with diagnosing the issue(s)?

Filter: XP3
Chemical Levels: all at 0, pH at 7.6-7.8.

From the photo I'm going to guess BBA, which is a type of red algae that often looks dark brown or black. It can be treated with spot treating with H2O2 or Excel.

Is it possible to remove the wood from the tank to either, bleach it, boil it or spot treat it with Excel? If you can't take it from the tank, then I would lower the water so that most of the black brush algae is exposed to the air and treat with Excel.

I can definitely extract it from the tank, it is about 18" tall.

If I go the bleach route, I probably dilute with water, soak in dilution until the algae falls off???

how big is the tank? If you have issues with bba and kill it, you may still have issues if the light is to much for a non co2 tank.

h202 will work, you can nuke it in the tank.

I am looking at adding CO2 in the new year. Both of my paintball tanks need to be rehydro tested, so I need that done before I purchase new co2 supply.
