My planted 6 Gallon Fluval Edge
Hi all,
Looking for some opinions on my 6 gallon fluval edge tank. It's been running for about 2 months now and is stocked with a crowntail betta, golden mystery snail, zebra snail and 5 amano shrimp. Plants are a crypt wendtii brown, pygmy chain swords and a moss ball. No CO2 but I'm dosing daily with Flourish Excel and Flourish Comprehensive every 4 days. Plant growth is very slow and I'm thinking of taking out the rock to make room for more plants. Problem is the lighting really restricts my options because it doesn't give much light to the edges of the tank. Any suggestions on live stock and plants? I'm thinking of adding some Ottos or Cories in there after adding more plants. Last edited by strekfus; 04-22-2013 at 06:39 PM.. Reason: Title change |

Cool tank and welcome!
In my Fluval Edge I am having the most success with a tall piece of driftwood in which I have planted many small Java ferns. They are thriving reaching up to the stock light (21 led) with the same exact liquid dosing as yourself. Mosses would be a good option for you too, with moss you could cover your rocks for a nice effect. |

Thanks for the welcome and all the advice! I'm leaning towards some Java fern, anubias and attaching some moss to the rocks. Maybe some pygmy cories to finish stocking the tank.

What about some shrimps, such as ghost or amano shrimp, to add some action and cleaning into the tank? I wouldn't recommend rcs because they might be easily seen by the betta and he might see them as shrimp cocktail! :3

I have 5 amano shrimp in there already and they get along great with the betta. Sadly I've already tried red cherry shrimp and as you mentioned, they became an expensive snack.
