Planted Tank Obsessed

Well I'm pretty busy with vet school, but depending on when it was, I'd be interested. I don't really know anyone else around here that is really into planted aquariums, at least not to the extent that I am. Just out of curiosity, what tanks does everyone have? High tech, low tech, somewhere in between?

I have a low tech/non CO2 55 gallon. It's planted heavily with low/medium light plants. I run T-5NO lighting, eco-complete with root tabs, seachem flourish, iron, and pottasium. I have a ton of RCS, some neons, rasboras, oto's, panda garras, amano shrimp, albino bristle nose pleco, and endler livebearer's.
I have a aqueon evolve 4 gallon that's waiting to be set up. Also, a small garden pond (200 gallon) with waterfall that has anacharis, water lily, water lettuce, water hycianth, umbrella plant, star grass, arrowhead, spike rush. I have three shubunkin's, a ton of snails, and some frogs that made home there. |

I've got a 30 gal. T5HO 2x39W, pressurized CO2 2-3bps, Flourish Nitrogen, Potassium, Phosphorus, Complete, and I'm about to give Iron a try. 24 harlequin rasboras, 6 otos, 2 julii cories, 5 amano shrimp. I'm still waiting on a few plants which should come in this week, but here's the final list: Alternanthera reineckii, Anubias barteri var. nana, Bacopa monnieri, Cabomba caroliniana, Cryptocoryne wendtii, Cryptocoryne pontederifolia, Didiplis diandra, Echinodorus tenellus, Echinodorus vesuvius, Glossostigma ellantinoides, Hemianthus micranthemoides, Heteranthera zosterifolia, Hydrocotyle leucocephala, Hygrophila difformis, Limnophila indica, Ludwigia arcuata, Ludwigia peruensis, Ludwigia repens, Mayaca fluviatilis, Pogostemon erectus, Rotala rotundifolia, Rotala sp. 'nanjenshan', Rotala wallichii. For those who are counting, that's 23 species. Yes, my tank is heavily planted... lol.

I'll post a profile under my tanks once I get everything planted and grown in a little. I've been working on the design aspect of it for a while, just been waiting on the plants to put it together.

Hi all! For some reason, I am not getting email notifications when people reply. I'd be interested in a meet-up somewhere central one weekend.
I have a 20 gal natural tank with bacopa, anachris, sagittaria, and ludwigia. Residents include neon tetras, siamese algae eater (I hope. Might be Chinese), 4 RCS, and pond snails. I also have a natural 5 gallon with bacopa and nerite and pond snails. I also have a small saltwater with two hermits and various worms and bugs that is waiting for a mantis shrimp. |

My current aquarium is just a 10 gallon low light setup with only one Java Fern Windelov on a piece of driftwood and two baby Java's (its offshoots). I don't have any fish right now as it needs some major tank maintenance done before any will survive, but I will be doing that soon as I don't want to loose my plant. I have been overloaded at work, which is causing me to have to work late daily due to a decrease in staff and some extra projects for some clients. However, I am getting adjusted to the workload and the extra projects are winding down so I do not have to work as late most days. I am thinking about getting an Aqueon 25 gallon Premium aquarium kit from Petsmart before the year is over.

I've seen those kits at petsmart and thought about getting one before. They have the coralife T5NO lighting which is on my 55 gallon and they seen to be great for low light/medium light plants.

Thanks for the info on the lights in the kit. I have been trying to find out whether they were NO or HO.

Hey everyone, this is my first post on this forum. I am looking into starting up a low light planted tank. Due to lack of space in my room, I cannot set up my 55g or 48g tanks, so I currently have a 5g. I want to upgrade to a 10g or 20g which is my max size available to fit. I do have a pond outside (preformed 90g) has 1 goldfish with batch of frogs just hatched in their. Also, I have lotus flower, and some new plants picked up (dont know exact name)
I would love to get to know local people since there is not many around me. Would love to buy some things and gain some knowledge. Look forward to hearing back from everyone. |
