Pico

So I have this cool little glass container that I decided I wanted to turn into a small planted tank. When empty it holds 1 gallon of water. I started this project a little over a month ago.

I have eco complete as my current substrate, and rocks as my focal points. I bought some plant trimmings from a fellow forum member and stuck them in. I have been using a 13w mini CFL bulb as well as a weak halogen lamp over the tank. No filtration, no heater, no ferts, no C02. With all of the rocks and substrate in there, it only holds about of a gallon.

Please ignore the plants that are just floating in there...I have had a tough time keeping the little plants in the substrate.

I originally had MGOPS capped with sand, but got rid of it when my eco came in. The eco complete has been in for about a week or so. When I originally got the plants, they melted quickly and looked horrible, but a little over half of them shot out some runners. My plants were slowly dieing off. They were growing, but not as fast as I was losing them. Lately, they haven't changed much at all. The main plants in the tank are ludwigia repens. You can't see most of them in the picture because they are behind the rocks, but most of them are a yellowish-green. Then there is a patch of a clover-like plant and another patch of a grass like plant. I can't remember their names. There are a couple other random plants tossed in here as well.

I would like to keep this tank without a filter, heater, and without C02.

1.) Is my lighting sufficient? Should I move the lamps closer or farther from the substrate?

2.) I figured that I should probably be using fertilizers, so I bought KN03, KH2P04, and CSM+B. Should I use these, if so, how much? I also have seachem root tabs and excel.

Plan on putting in any fish or shrimp in there? I'm sure your light is fine. I have a 1 watt light on my pico (it's smaller tho) and the plants are nice n' green. One horizontal light would make for a cleaner look. Overall I like.

do you use ferts on yours??
I havent put too much thought into what inverts i wanna put in here..
i figured its best for shrimp, but I have also entertained the idea of a big snail, or even thai micro crabs. but i have only owned fish so idk anything about them.
im gonna wait until the tank is cycled before i think about putting any creatures in there
