40G Breeder Journal - Cory Tank (4/25 - Video)

Hi everyone.
Well... finally decided to start my first journal. I don't usually take pictures of my tanks, but I guess I'll try.

I'm using a 36" Coralife 2x21 watt T5NO fixture and pressurized Co2.

Planning on a sand path style tank with an angelfish and a school of corys on the bottom.

Driftwood was from manzanita.com

Setting the borders.
On the left side, I screwed the wood to some slate to get a hardscape down.


Adding aquasoil and silica sand from Lowe's.




Right side...


Don't really have much of a plan in terms of planting though..

Wow great looking scape so far. I cant wait to see it full of plants. I love Cory's too you could put quite a few in there too. It would look great with some moss on a few of the branches but keep a few of them bare those are great pieces.

thats awesome!i always wanted a path in the middle of my tank but i cant deal with the substrates mixing,ocd much go with like 20 pygmy cories !

Great start. I really enjoy the double sided driftwood setups. They always seem to come out very nice. You've certainly done your research. Well done.

I filled the tank up and unfortunately,
most of the branches on the right side floated up.
I thought I waterlogged them!

Water is very clear though, I filled it up reaaally slow..



So I'll just let it sit for a few days with some rock weights.

Update.

Okay so, I got the manzanita to sink and the tank has been semi-planted.. all I had from my other tank.



Plants from my other tank. Gonna have to buy more plants! But I'm still not so sure what kind of plants I'm going to use for this.
I think the tank is cycled now. I tested for ammonia and it looks like it's at zero.
And the sand is not as white as it looks in the photos lol. It has a bit of tan color.

Thanks! If I can find some, panda corys are on the top of my list. They are my favorite! I also like weitzmani, but I've never seen them locally..
I do have a few pygmy corys in another tank, but I won't add them to this tank because my big angel might eat them. :X

Hey guys, quick update.
I added a few fish:
-9 harlequin rasboras
-3 Ottos

Still no cory's.. My lfs won't have panda corys for a couple more weeks.

The ottos have been pooping an abnormally large amount probably from eating all the wood fungus. lol
Things seem to be going pretty well. Haven't run into too many problems yet. Thankfully, no algae yet either.
I also added a few more plants, it's sort of starting to fill in.
