Question

Scratches on Glass Tank

I know that some scratches won't be seen when filled with water, but I have filled my tank and a few are clearly visible. When I first got the tank I spent a while cleaning algae that the previous owner failed to remove from the cracks, so removing the scratches isn't just for aesthetic reasons.

I know there are methods of reducing scratches on glass tanks (high grit sand paper as well as chemicals). What would you guys recommend? Also, being the paranoid person that I am, I was wondering if there is anyway I can help make the glass less weak after I smooth the scratches. Can I use the filler liquid that one uses when there is a small crack on a windshield? Or should I just not be concerned? Any and all suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
