Help get me again
I have a 32gal waterhome that I was so proud of a few years ago. I ended up getting a VERY BAD case of BGA and no matter what I tried it would not go away. I still have some. I have been battling it for well over a year. Anyways, The majority of my plants have died and I completely lost interest and completely neglected my tank.
My tank is the standard 2x20watt Normal Output which puts my tank at about 1.2 wpg. Are there any other tanks out there with a similar set up. T5NO and T5HO are completely different and have a much greater output so I would rather not see those because its a completely different set up. Can you please direct me to similar setups or show me yours. I am really trying to get interested again and want some ideas. Please please please please.

I'm currently battling bga myself, if you dont have any plants, you could setup a quarantine tank and bleach out your current aquarium n equipment, then restart. If you don't want to head down the hi tec route you could do moss anubias and fern tank, there are some amazing ones out there
Did the math, do u have a 33gal tank? |

Its a 32 gal
dimensions: 31.5x14x17.5 I did bleach out my system and vinegar'd the rest which was living stuff... minus the fish. Put everything back together and BGA came back, though not nearly as bad. Plants covered in diatoms and BBA. I just did a 80% WC today so we shall see how that helps things out. Fish are sure happy

Below is a pic of my two 20g longs with 2x18w T5NO's on them. Not exactly the same as your 32g, as my tanks are only 13" high. I really like my NO fixtures. I have 4 other larger tanks with HO's on them, and find hanging them and having each bulb on a separate switch for lighting options is the way to go. I find my tanks go thru a 4-6 month settling in period, where I fight algae. But once the tanks "mature" a bit, providing I keep up with algae removal, wc's, co2 or excel and fert dosing, all is good.
This one has been set up for a couple of years now, it's my Q/holding tank, it really needs a good trim: ![]() This one's been set up since this spring, I just added a bunch more plants, IMO, heavily planted tanks are easier to maintain:

and thank you londonloco
I went through the entire thread on low tech can be lush too and found a tank almost exactly like mine in specs. So I need to look at getting plants like the ones in there. And other low light plants.

I would try a 30 inch 2 bulb T5NO fixture. Get one with legs and it will fit your tank. This is assuming you would like to keep it low tech. We will always be in a constant battle with algae

Yes they are the regular T8 bulbs. Im not going to buy a new fixture for my tank until I am finished having kids and they are old enough to understand not to touch. Currently its in an enclosed hood that locks in a way, so its very safe for my son which is only 16 months now. Sure he doesnt reach and wont for quite some time but im sure before then he will figure out that chairs and tables and toys can be used as step stools.
Those lights worked really well until my BGA outbreak. I had stargrass, rotala indica, bacopa, red tiger lotus, bananna plant, hygro, various mosses, camboba, etc. Since the outbreak nothing can grow. Except the java and anubias.

Rotal Indica needs high light. He doesn't list his light. I have a coralife T5NO over my 29 gallon tank and it barely survived in that tank. |

Acually his info is listed. He is running 2x20 normal output and He wasent injecting C02 until he re-arranged his tank. I am actually speaking with him via pm' now and getting more information about the tank.
And no, I am not going to use CO2 on my tank. I use excel when I remember. I know these plants CAN be grown. I used to have a lot of medium light lovers in my tank and they grew very very well until I had my BGA outbreak. PS yes the dimensions are LxWxH as per the standard way of listing measurements.
