I bought it used, I don't know who makes it but it is drilled for reef tank sump, so I just bought a 1 gallon betta tank and attached it to the back to house the heating and filtration. the tank it self is about 8 gallon 16''x12''x10''.

A little custom work on a piece of back ground and you won't even know it has a filter, this is a cool little tank. A little moss wall or something to hide the filter intake/exhaust, I need one bad!
Did you get a light with it?

No light came with it, I am just using a desktop lamp at the moment until I find a T5 fixture. I will attach a black background to the back of the tank, I will also try the moss wall idea and see how it will look.

Thanks Devin,
I like the look of the planter gravel that i got from you last time so I used it to cover the MTS in this set-up.

You won't need much light depending on the plants you use, but you should be able to find a little clip on type fixture with a LED bulb and your good to go. The LED's are still a little expensive but are nice and small, good luck.

How many watts is enough for medium light plants if i choose the LED route?

That's a good question but I don't know the answer, I did ask plantbrain once how LEDs compared to high light plants as compared to the CFL wpg rule and I believe it was 3-4 wpg of CFL is equal to 1 wpg LED, so the would translate to a half wpg for med light plants, so you would need a 4 watt fixture. I would ask around because it's been a long time since I asked that question and there has to be a minimum wattage even on the smallest tank, but with almost any light you should be able to grow mosses and shrimp love them, my shrimp like my floating Riccia.
What plants did you have in mind??

I ordred 26 watt clip on CFL instead of LED fixture, I added a cover to the tank to reduce evaporation.
Some plants came in today: Rotala macrandra 'green'. Bacopa Carolina. CABOMBA PALAEFORMIS, purple Cabomba. Cryptocoryne parva. CRYPTOCORYNE WENDTII 'RED'. Myriophyllum Pinnatum. stargrass. NESAEA SP RED LEAVED. Ludwigia Glandulosa.
