I wish I could afford a rotary drum. Those are awesome.

I have 2 Cetus Sieves on my 11,000 gallon pond. They work ok but I have to worry about the 4' deep filter pit flooding every time it rains, if the power goes out. I'm thinking about swapping them out for 2 Zakki Sieves since they are pressurized and can be above pond level.

Your pond is awesome!

When you do a project you do it the right way. I love all the thought you put into your systems.

What kind of media do you use in the bio filter?
Is it a fluidized bed filter?

I have heard of a few people using the k1 filter media for media in koi ponds but don't know of anyone personally. I don't have a pond set up for the purpose of keeping koi but more of a water garden with koi in it and I let the plants do most of the filtering for me. My koi are happy and healthy but not what I would consider show quality. With that being said my koi will never reach the size and girth of koi in a proper koi pond like yours. Keep updating this thread as I would love to see the growth of your fish.

P.S. When is that tank of yours going to get water in it.

70hr work weeks have been getting in the way from getting anything done.

It will be fluidized K1 or K3 media.

My 4" knife gate valve (not cheap) got in on Friday letting me make some more progress here. Getting close now.

If my thinking is correct on this setup I should be running about 12" of head pressure on my "gravity feed" back to the pond which should greatly increase it's max capable flow rate

Well that was a pain in the neck, but it's in and buried. Start testing it this weekend, if no leaks I'll finish back filling everything.

So I changed over the bio chamber overflow to a true herbie split stand pipe system. It is now up and running. 60 micron filtration. drum filter is cleaning itself about every 5-10 seconds the water is so mucky.
