So we have drained the pond and acid washed the plaster after letting it cure for a couple of weeks.
Nothing seems to be leaking and pond water level held up nicely. Air diffuser are in place and working nicely as well.

Refilled with meter on the hose and it came out to a little over 5,100 gallons

Making some final tweaks to the pumps and installing the vortex inner screen basket system and it's time for fish.

Let me get some landscaping and the low voltage light system in over the next few weeks (if it will ever quit raining) and I will post up a bunch of pics of the final product.

Wow. So you have a 5100 gallon pond outside your house and your 300 gallon bookcase setup inside. Very nice work all around! If I can do even a fraction of the home improvement like you I'll be happy!

It used to be thought that we can grow them for 100 years but 15-20 years is more like it.

Pond is doing good. Still dont have water quality where I want it but it's acceptable for now. Next on the list is adding a freshwater protein skimmer (aka Foam Fractionator) to the filter system and I want to put a bigger pump on the skimmer loop to increase surface debris removal.

Maintenance consists of back washing the bio filter 3 times a week or so and flushing the vortex solids separator at the same time.

7' deep. Fish are about 12" long. Went from finger length to fore arm length in less than a year. Get fed 2 to 3 times a day. Pigglies.

I had to turn off and tear down the water fall. The bees found it as a water source and it got to be like some 1970's bee swarm horror movie out there. Never got stung and they never acted like they wanted to, but the numbers were insane. Redoing all the landscaping around it now as well.

These pics are about a month old.

New filter system going in......

The new system will work like this.

This one is rated for 8,000gph with 60 micron screen. I will probably only be running 4,000-5,000gph through it though. It's big, very heavy and very well built. I can tell why these things cost so much.

mud mud mud .... ugh

Awesome set up, I can only hope that the pond I eventually install will be 1/8 badass as this.

I know my sheriffs office will never pay me enough to do anything like this.
